Our Story
A house named for being seen
El Roi House began around a kitchen table, with a handful of neighbors who kept meeting women with nowhere safe to sleep. Shelters were full. Waitlists ran months long. The choice too often came down to returning home or living in a car.
So we opened doors to private apartments and homes across the community — not an institution, but safe places with a light on and a table ready. Every woman who walks through the door is met by name, believed the first time she tells her story, and given the time it actually takes to rebuild.
"She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: You are the God who sees me."
